How to use Images in Schedules
All elements in Revit have an Image (Instance) or Type Image (Type) parameter which allows you to select an external image file which can then be displayed in Schedules. The most common use case is in the FF&E Schedule.
The Image and Type Image properties are categorised under Identify Data in the Properties palette and Type Properties dialog. Shape Image is categorised under Construction.
The method for setting the image varies depending on the element type.
System Families
System Families such as walls, floors, and roofs, you can edit the Image and Type Image parameters for the element in the model, to associate an image to an instance or to the family type.
Loadable Families
You can specify an image to be associated to an instance of the loadable family by editing the Image parameter in the model. To change the image associated with the family type, you must open the family in the Family Editor, edit the Type Image parameter for the family, and reload the family into the model.

Rebar Shape Families
You can manage the image associated with the family by opening it in the Family Editor, modifying the Shape Image type parameter in the Rebar Shape Parameters dialog (Family Types), and reloading the family. The Shape Image parameter is associated with the rebar shape family. Changing the shape specified for a rebar element in the model, will also change the Shape Image.
NOTE:
Ensure only optimised image sizes are selected. Preferably a PNG file of less than 20KB should be used. Under no circumstances use an image greater than 100KB.
How to assign the Image

Generally you should assign images to the Type as opposed to the instance. The sections above describe how to assign the Type Image value for either a System Family, Family or Rebar Shape.
First ensure your image is appropriate for your schedule. For the best output, prepare your image in an editor to adjust its size and and aspect ratio to be consistent across all elements. 200x200 pixels is usually as large as it needs to be, ideally 100x100 pixels.
From the Manage Image dialog either select the image that is already loaded, or choose Add… to browse and Open your image. This will load it into your Revit Project file. For it to work for all users, it should be located on a network share that all users can access it. Although its stored in the project file, Revit still requires a link to the original file.
Select OK to assign the image.
Select OK to close the Family Type dialog.
In your Schedule, simply add the Type Image parameter, then set the column width to adjust the size of the image. Revit will best fit the image to the width of the column. This is why we try and keep the same dimensions for all images as it will look better on the sheet.
