How to create Line Styles & Understand Line Weights
Line styles are used to indicate different effects, such as using a dashed line (- - - -) to indicate hidden objects over or under. The Template has pre-defined line styles for the majority of cases. But, it is usual for additional Line Styles to be required for different Project demands.
Line Styles
Each Line Style has a Name (Also known as the Category), Line Weight Projection, Line Colour and Line Pattern.
These values can be reviewed by going to the Manage tab on the Ribbon, Settings panel ► Additional Settings ► Line Styles.
New Line Styles can be created here by clicking “New” under Modify Subcategories.
Line Styles have Line Weights that are either “Fixed” to a specific Line Weight across all scales or are “Scalable”.
INFO:
Scalable means the line weight will vary depending on the scale of the view. That is, at 1:100 the line weight might be 0.25 but at 1:10 it might be 0.70.

Fixed | (Line Weight 10-16) Specific Line Weight regardless of scale. These should be used for annotation or drafting views where there are no model elements. | *0.13 Solid |
Scalable | (Line Weight 1-9) Line Weight will adjust with the scale of the view. Refer to the table below. These should be used for embellishing over the model. All model elements use Scalable Line Weights, so when drafting over the top of the model, to add extra information, you will want to “match” the Line Weights of the model elements. As such scalable lines are the most useful. | Black-03-Hidden |
