New / Modify Format Dialog

Overview

The Format dialog allows you to define and name the settings to be used for a particular type of output.  This dialog contains several sections and some sections are shared between different format types.

Name and Type

The top section of the dialog allows you to set the Name of the Format and select the output type.

File Settings

The File Settings section is shown when the selected format Type involves the creation of a file.  This section allows you to define a Naming Rule that will be used to name the exported file.  See Naming Rules and Output Locations for more information.

Aconex Settings

The Aconex Settings section is shown when the selected format Type involves the creation of a file.  This section allows you to determine whether files created with this Format are to be considered for uploading to Aconex, and you can define a Document Numbering Rule that will be used to generate the Document Number for Aconex.  See the Naming Rules section for more information.

Note: Exports forever maintain their association with the format they were exported from.  So if you later decide you do want this format to be available for upload to Aconex, re-ticking this box affects all sheets issued with this format historically.  Similarly, changing the Document Numbering Rule will also update previously exported files.  However, only the most recent file exported for a particular sheet using this format will be available for publishing to Aconex.

Export Options

The Export Options section may be shown depending on the selected format Type.

The options shown vary depending on the selected format Type and the version of Revit.

See DGN Export Options, DWF Export Options, DWG Export Options and DXF Export Options for more information.

Print Setup

The Print Setup section may be shown depending on the selected format Type.

The options shown vary depending on the selected format Type and the version of Revit.

See DWF Export Options, PDF Print Setup and Print Setup for more information.
